In Year 12, you will study ‘The Business Environment ’In this unit you will develop an understanding of how and why businesses operate in the way they do. This unit is assessed through an external exam.You will also study ‘Customers and Communication’, where you will develop your understanding about how the business needs to consider the importance of customer experience and ensure that they communicate effectively both internally and externally. This is assessed through coursework. You will also study ‘Introduction to Human Resources’, where you will gain an understanding of the HR function to ensure the success of a business. This is also assessed through coursework.

In Year 13, you will study ‘Marketing and Market Research’, where you will develop your understanding of the role of market research and how it contributes to marketing decision making and the actions a business may take. This is assessed through coursework. You will also study ‘Business Events’, this is a practical unit which will develop your skills to plan and make preparations for an event that you will run, how to support the running of this event and review the extent to which the event have been successful. This unit is assessed through coursework.

College Entry Requirements and a grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English.

Where can it lead?

Many students go on to study Business at University, specialising in topic areas such as Marketing, Accountancy, Human Resources and Business Management. Some students go straight into a business apprenticeship or a graduate programme, where they learn and develop key skills on the job.
