Exam Board: AQA

A-Level Drama and Theatre will engage you through encouraging creativity, focusing on practical work which reflects 21st Century theatre practice and developing skills that will support progression to further study of drama and a wide range of other subjects. You will explore different play texts, responding to direction and create original devised performances which will develop their understanding and passion of performance.

Assessment

There are three components to Drama & Theatre – one that focuses on devising, one that focuses on performing or design skills and one that focuses on practical exploration of texts to interpret them in performance.

Devising: 40%

Text in performance: 20%

Theatre in practice: Written exam 40%

Requirements

GCSE Drama is desirable but not essential ​/ GCSE English grade 5

Where can it lead?

You will develop a multitude of skills, including collaboration, communication and an understanding transition to their next level of study or employment.

A-Level Drama and Theatre opens a variety of pathways, beyond just careers in theatre.  A range of routes at university are created, as well as developing a range of skills relevant in the wider world.
