Exam Board: AQA

This course will develop your appreciation of the complex relations between design, materials, manufacturing and marketing. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in designing and making your own 3D products. The department have a successful GCSE subject area with a proven track record of achievement.

The course is taught for four hours a week in purpose-equipped workshops and teaching spaces. The course will suit you if; you have enjoyed being creative and are interested about who, what, why and where a product is required, you enjoy the subject and want study a creative subject to break up you timetable of more traditional formal subjects, you have enjoyed understanding and learning about materials and the process allowing them to be used effectively to make products.

Assessment

50% exam / 50% non-exam assessment

Requirements

If you have studied Design and Technology or Engineering Design at Key Stage 4, a grade 6 or M2 is desirable. Grade 5 in both GCSE English and GCSE Maths are also desirable.

Where can it lead?

You could go on and study at a higher level in Product Design, Architecture Design, Engineering Design and other 3D design disciplines.

You could seek employment in Product Design, Architecture Design, Engineering Design or other 3D Design disciplines.
